From what i've heard from my mates at work the radioshack seems to be the better one but they're no scanner buff either.

they're just cheerin' that they can hear the police.

what i have herd and i have seen a few ops using is the radioshack pro 96 handheld and the base scanner as they can scan and receive the digital police channels, I'm not much of a scanner buff.
What can i say but just that

Which digital scanner?????
Hi everyone

I was wondering which handheld digital scanner is the best one to buy.

The only 2 I've seen are the  Uniden BCD396T Digital APCO25 Scanner
Radioshack PRO 96 APCO-25 Digital Trunking Handheld Scanner

I've also heard that the police are going to encrypted digital soon anyway so it may be waste of money buying a digital scanner.

Is this true? If so when?

Why are they cellular blocked now?

I've got an old Uniden Bearcat 3000xlt that used to be able  scan the old analogue mobiles.

Any help on this topic would be appreciated.
