Yes, there is still activity on 27MHz.
I used to listen to ch35 lsb and use the idiots as beacons.

27MHz has been active even during the solar minimum.
I've had several good long QSOs over the past five years on 27MHz and even >cough< 26MHz.

The DX is there, but unless you're listening AND calling, nobody is going to know.
Personally if I hear some idiots on ch35, rev them up and remind them all about their homosexual lifestyles.
Their noise will encourage other DX stations to check the other channels for activity.

The test for the F call is so easy... then you need to apply to WIA for your callsign, then pay ACMA for your licence, hey Bunter put away your Playboy & get your licence!  :D :D :D

Michael

its soooooo eazy its a joke i past 3 years ago for the F call basic ham lic

its likethis if you own a car lic and you dont pass the F call go hand your car lic in and go get a labotamy done.

its like this if you can set up a cb radio at home or in the car your well on your way to passing.

Gawd that sounds sooo easy

I have contacted SCARC and am going Wednesday week to get started :)

Then perhaps I might have to start looking for a real radio and antenna instead of my old Karinna and Totem LOL

LOL BuNtEr

I only look at the pictures in the above mentioned publication, therefore my autonomous other brain may be at work leaving more brain power for obtaining a Licence ;)

But I have always been interested in getting an Amature Radio Licence But have always previously been put off by the morse and old restrictions if you did not do morse.  From looking at the testing now for a Foundation Licence it seems they have drastically changed the restrictions now from the old Novice Licence from around 30 or so years ago.

I am looking at contacting the South Coast Amateur Radio Club (SCARC) for more information and see where we go from there.

Cheers & 73's

Kym

Word on the street or I should say the ham bands, is that the skip may start picking up soon, might be worthwile getting on 27meg SSB, better still why not get your Amateur license? Foundation license is easy.

Michael

Thanks for that Michael

Looking into a Foundation Licence now ;)  http://www.wia.org.au/licences/foundation/about/ :)

Hiya All

I am thinking about setting up for 27mhz again but am wondering if it is worthwhile DX activity wise.

Is there any skip?

I haven't been on for years and did most of my DXing in the 70's and early 80's.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers & 73's
